Workplace Canada is known for pioneering programs that respond to shifting immigration and workplace trends and lead to employment. The first program, in 1992, was an office training program that successfully led all its first graduates into full-time employment.

Now a range of accelerated programs are offered to fit the needs of the people arriving from all parts of the world. Services offered include information and referral, French and English language assessment, English language instruction, integrated language/skills training, employment preparation, business skills, mentoring and settlement services.

The programs offered are designed to lead to employment. They include information, referral and assessment, workshops, resume development and job placement support. We can also connect you with a mentor who will help you develop a resumé that employers are looking for.

Our Services

Job Search Workshops are designed to help you access labour market information and learn about hiring practices in your field. The program consists of two modules, each one week long, that will answer your questions about working in Canada and prepare you for the Canadian job market.

  • Do I know all of the methods to job search in Canada?
  • How can I market myself to a company using a targeted resume and cover letter?
  • Can I market myself to a company in an interview?
  • Can I do this job where I live?
  • Who do I need to meet and what are my next steps?

Our free workshops and information sessions are a great way to find out about specific professions, learn about new things, and meet new people.

We tap into our professional and community networks to offer informative, one- to two-hour long workshops at all our locations. For example, we coordinate monthly sessions with regulatory bodies for information sessions on occupation-specific certification and the licensing process in Ontario. You will also find sessions dedicated to networking and mentoring, and information about community groups that meet at our centres and welcome new participants. These sessions are open to everyone.
